Interstate Volvo Bus Logistics (Joint Venture with Mahindra Logistics)

Joint Venture on logistics operations with Mahindra & Mahindra for transportation of milk from Rajasthan to Assam for our Armed Forces and their movement to troubled areas where other transportation companies were unable to perform.

To provide transport solutions to the Government of Rajasthan, Uttaranchal, Odisha and Jammu & Kashmir jointly with Mahindra & Mahindra Logistics Services, by providing them for the very first time, VOLVO BUSES in a joint venture. It was the first time that the VOLVO buses were introduced in the states mentioned above which in no time became one of the safest and most convenient means of travelling on the roads. This has improved the intercity connectivity and travel comfort and also gave Government a very high return beside boosting the tourist industry. This project won the national award for the best project in high-end passenger transport for the year 2005-06.

Wondergenie treated this as a full operating partnership, not a one-off contract. Milk for the Armed Forces had to move from Rajasthan to Assam and into areas where civilian transporters would not go. The joint venture with Mahindra & Mahindra was built so that schedule, safety and accountability stayed with people who understood both defence logistics and commercial running of fleets.

The same model was then used with Mahindra & Mahindra Logistics Services to introduce Volvo coaches to state governments. Rajasthan, Uttaranchal, Odisha and Jammu & Kashmir received premium interstate buses for the first time. The service quickly became known for safer, more comfortable intercity travel, stronger tourist movement and a better commercial return for government.

Industry recognition followed at national level: Best National Logistics Project for 2004, and the national award for the best project in high-end passenger transport for 2005-06.
